On display until 22nd April at London’s Fashion Space Gallery is ‘Museum of Transology’: the UK’s largest ever exhibition of trans artefacts, with over 120 crowd-sourced objects. Reflecting the diversity of the trans experience itself, the objects range from clothes, souvenirs, hormones, prosthetics, books and post-surgery body parts; each of them accompanied by hand-written tags from their lenders. Some of the tags are reflective, some funny, happy, or sad – but all of them moving.
I had the great opportunity of curating a vitrine for the exhibition, with a bit of design help from my TOC familia! On display were several magazine and newspaper articles over the last 50-odd years, looking at how language around ‘transness’ has changed. As gender equality’s as pertinent issue as ever, it was really exciting to reflect on how ideas around gender are always shifting.
As I said, the exhibition’s on until 22nd April and is free, so no excuses!
