MUSEUM OF TRANSOLOGY

On display until 22nd April at London’s Fashion Space Gallery is ‘Museum of Transology’: the UK’s largest ever exhibition of trans artefacts, with over 120 crowd-sourced objects. Reflecting the diversity of the trans experience itself, the objects range from clothes, souvenirs, hormones, prosthetics, books and post-surgery body parts; each of them accompanied by hand-written tags from their lenders. Some of the tags are reflective, some funny, happy, or sad – but all of them moving.
I had the great opportunity of curating a vitrine for the exhibition, with a bit of design help from my TOC familia! On display were several magazine and newspaper articles over the last 50-odd years, looking at how language around ‘transness’ has changed. As gender equality’s as pertinent issue as ever, it was really exciting to reflect on how ideas around gender are always shifting.

As I said, the exhibition’s on until 22nd April and is free, so no excuses!

BURBERRY’S MAKERS HOUSE EXHIBITION

On Sunday, I popped into Makers House, a weeklong exhibition showcasing Burberry’s latest collection inspired by British sculptor Henry Moore. Opening the day after their LFW runway show, ‘Henry Moore: Inspiration and Process’ paired Burberry’s 78 individual couture capes and outfits next to some of Moore’s most famous and monumental sculptures, models and maquettes, highlighting how much each and every garment played with scale, fabrics, and natural aesthetic. If anyone has a chance to go TONIGHT (it ends at 9pm), carpe diem and get yourself down there for a lovely treat.

REEBOK CLASSIC PRESS DAY BUILD

It was a pleasure working with M&C Saatchi to produce the Reebok Classic PressDay build with the TOC team at The White Space Gallery in the West End earlier this year. FACE and MELIDY EHSANI collab stations, a brand heritage wall, work out area and a large bespoke display this was a good one.

PARTY LIKE A FOUR YEAR OLD…

On Friday we finally got round to celebrating our Fourth Birthday here at TOC – a competitive day seeing Andrew win the Go-Karting (not happy about that!) and Billy taking the bowling crown (and waking up with a black eye for his wedding on Saturday…). Finishing the day with a friends and family party at the Ace Hotel, big up the team and everyone that came through to celebrate with us.

#EYESOPEN – EXXXPRESSO LAUNCH FOR CAFÉ ZERO

Working with Golin and the Unilever Café Zero team, our #EYESOPEN campaign has just come to a close in Milan. It was certainly an ‘eye-opening’ experience and a real pleasure working with Peeta, Sparki and Mr Wany on the ground in Italy.

YES, WE’RE FOUR YEARS OLD!

I can’t believe it’s been four years since I started The Outside Collective!
Over the past year we’ve expanded our offering and been lucky enough to work on some dream projects for some ‘bucket list’ brands. The adidas ZX Flux launch, Google event installations, trips to the adidas HQ in Germany, painting Vauxhall cars and most recently the #EyesOpen graffiti campaign for Unilever and Café Zero in Milan, it’s been our most exciting year yet.

A massive thanks to everyone that’s been a part of the journey, in particular; Henry, Andrew, Billy, Josh, Emmet, Ciss and Lauren.

The fifth birthdays gonna be the big one so get ready to party next summer…

Big Love
JB
